Vanilla Sea Salt Ice Cream
Years ago I visited the most spectacular of theme parks, Tokyo Disney Sea. At the park they sold an amazing amount of snack foods that Westerners would definitely find strange but they were so intriguing I just had to try them. One of the most interesting treats was the Sea Salt Ice Cream.
As if the interesting flavor wasn’t selling point enough, it also came in this adorable plastic sea shell. Back then such a weird flavor was unheard of but nowadays salt and sweet hass become the norm.
As a warning, this ice cream definitely leans towards the salty side, but it’s something different and a nod to fun memories at the happiest theme park in Japan.
Vanilla Sea Salt Ice Cream
Ingredients:
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 cups whole milk
3/4 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 Tablespoon Vanilla Sea Salt
Instructions:
Prep an ice cream maker freezer bowl ahead of time.
In a bowl, stir together the heavy cream and milk.
Whisk in the sugar until dissolved, then stir in the vanilla and salt.
Cover and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes.
Pour into cold mixture into the prepped freezer bowl and freeze in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer’s directions.
Just as the ice cream begins to firm up, stir in the salt.
When it’s done, transfer to a sealed container and freeze until ready to serve.
I love the use of the the flavored salts! one of my other foodie blogs stops – girlichef – is always using some in her various recipes
That looks wonderful, I need to host a party now and serve this dessert!
WOW, love the sound of this one…make my own flavoured salts all the time, and this is sending me in a whole new direction!
Excellent blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little
lost on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress
or go for a paid option? There are so many choices
out there that I’m totally confused .. Any recommendations?
Kudos!
