My in-laws are coming over to our house and they’re bringing the turkey, while we are in charge of making the sides. One extra item they’re bringing with them this year is Spanish paella. I can’t wait for that!
We’re having our first “modern family” Thanksgiving. We just moved to the same city wher my husband’s daughter & her mom live. We’re going over to their house where we will be joined by extended family … we’re bringing some vegetarian dishes & looking forward to a mellow day.
This year we are headed to my sisters and I am in charge of the turkey.
Thanksgiving is our absolute favorite holiday. We started prepping for it last night, in fact, by making the brine liquid. Turkey will go into the brine tonight, and we’ll also make a goat cheese terrine appetizer tonight. Everything else on the menu is pretty traditional (dressing, potatoes, Brussels), but this year we’re making a signature cocktail, too. It’s a spiced cranberry sangria! Should be delish!
I’m bringing a salad which is the easy part 🙂
Since we live within 20 minutes of our extended family, we’re not hosting, but we’re still cooking. We’re making a turkey, candied sweet potatoes, and green bean casserole for lunch at my grandma’s house; and a bourbon pecan pie for dinner with my husband’s family. Yum, yum, yum!
My honey does 90% of the holiday cooking. However, this year, I’m planning on making an apple cake with a simpl powdered sugar/apple juice drizzle.
Going to my husband’s side of the family with my pumpkin crunch squares 🙂
We’re going y o my brother’s house. We couldn’t bring the best cheesecake in the world (Zanze’s in S F) because we came earlier then usual so we went to King’sHawaiian Bakery for a paradise cake and pumpkin pie.
My whole family is going to eat at my Aunt’s house this year. I am in charge of 1 apple pie, 1 cherry pie, and cranberry sauce. We usually have the crappy can sauce, but I’m actually going to make it from scratch this year. I’m very excited!
i’m making pumpkin struesel muffins. a good friend is opening her home to a bunch of us single folk.

We are going to our cousin’s house! We provided the turkey but they will be cooking it. I’m bringing different kinds of homemade cookies, apple cake and an orange jello with cream cheese and manderian oranges and a crust on the bottom.
definitely doing furikake chex mix as little gifts!
PS. GAS IS SO EXPENSIVE DOWN HERE IN HAWAII
The in-laws are coming o us this year and I make a cross rib roast and whatever sides someone else decides they want in the week before. I’ll also probably make lots of peanut butter oatmeal M&M cookies and peanut butter chocolate thumbprints. Yummy.
We went to my niece’s house for Thanksgiving & I got home at 1 AM. Fun!
We had a dinner with in-laws and ate some turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole etc.
We made two different cranberry sauces, green beans for taking to our friends house.
We went to my in-laws in Az and had a thanksgiving feast.
My brother and sister-in-law hosted Thanksgiving at their house. I was in charge of a turkey, the mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes.
I am going to help my mom cook whatever she decides on later :0)
This is our first year having Thanksgiving with relatives, we are a military family & have been stationed overseas for quite some time but have finally been stationed back in the states. This year was my first time ever making a turkey! Kind of intimidating, but it turned out so good that I’m planning on making turkey every year from now on. Our Thanksgiving spread included lots of Samoan food as well: taro in coconut milk, sapasui (Samoan-style chop sui), palusami (made with pilikaki fish in coconut milk and spinach), and of course the usual Thanksgiving trimmings like stuffing, potatoes, and dessert. It was great being able to spend Thanksgiving with relatives! Can’t wait for Christmas and New Years now!
Fresh Corn Chowder
Weather it’s coming back or leaving on a deployment, I will be doing the same as I have the past two years. This year, my daughter will be leaving on deployment right before Thanksgiving. So I will make my way up there and prepare a Thanksgiving dinner for her and anyone on base that would like to join us. If you could see the gratitude in their eyes and in their words, it would drop you to your knees.
I prepare 2 20+lb turkeys with dressing, mashed potatoes, candied yams, caramelized carrots, corn, green beans, homemade dinner rolls, gravy, 2 pumpkin pies with fresh whipping cream, cherry pie, a peach pie, and my stir me not cookies.
I have never had any leftovers and no one left without a full belly.
