Wilton Super Mario Gingerbread Castle

Way back in 2011 I took a tour of Wilton’s headquarters and it was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. To be able to see the inner workings of a baking supply company was brilliant. It was wonderful to see how each and every item you see on the shelf—but may be too intimidated to use—was easily wielded by the Wilton experts.

I regularly use Wilton products in my baking and they graciously reached out to me to show me a new product for the holidays: the Super Mario Gingerbread Castle.

This product hit home for me on so many levels, for years I made gingerbread houses with my mom and assembling them was something I looked forward to every December. Since the kids in our family aren’t as inclined towards baking as I was, this pre-baked kit is a great alternative. Even better, it’s Super Mario-themed, which appealed to these little gamers as well as a nostalgia factor for me.

I took the Super Mario Gingerbread Castle to Thanksgiving for our family to assemble during our day of eating and celebrating. I followed the directions to the T, only using the supplies provided. I used the photo on the box as a template but then made some design choices of my own, like placing the giant mushroom on the front of the castle like a happy welcome home for Mario.

It was a family affair with everyone very interested, especially my little niece, as well as family members who kept stopping by to grab a few of the extra candy decorations.

My brother suggested attaching candy stars to straws to make them seem like they were exploding out of the castle. That’s the best part about putting together a gingerbread house, taking input from everyone to make it a fun, family group project.

With everything provided including frosting and piping tips, this package makes it easy for even the youngest family members to participate. This is a great gift to give for the holidays or an entertaining activity for the holiday season!

Disclosure: Wilton provided this product with no additional compensation.
